Chicago Tribune - 15 TV EVENTS you won't want to miss in May
..."American Idol" vs. "Lost" finales (7 p.m. May 25, Fox and ABC). The biggest showdown of the month is between Fox and ABC on this night. Fox will air a 2-hour "American Idol" finale, which will no doubt be painfully stuffed with filler (we only really care about the last five minutes of the "Idol" finale). On ABC, we'll be glued to the 2-hour finale of "Lost," because we're dying to find out what the deal is with that beastie in the forest.... Read the full story here. (12:16 PM)

"Lost: The Journey" Airs Tonight
"Lost: The Journey" airs tonight on Lost's timeslot (8/7c). The episode is a clip show/recap of sorts, taking us through the stories of some of the show's key characters using footage from old episodes (and if we're lucky, some unseen footage as well) recut to tell the story in a linear fashion. We might also be getting some new information on the island and its mysteries as well. If you have any friends who have yet to discover this show, tonight is your best chance to lure them in. (5:05 PM)
LOST Reruns to Air in the Summer
ABC will be airing Lost reruns this summer starting June 1, but not in the timeslot we're all used to. The show will air later, at 10/9c. The show will be preceded by two reality shows, Supernanny and Dancing with the Stars. For more information, check out The Futon Critic. (7:14 AM)
Calgary Sun - 'Lost' actor's life after TV death
Ian Somerhalder says he just had the best year of his life. Unfortunately it ended with his death. The 26-year-old actor has the distinction of being the first cast member of TV's Lost to be voted off the island -- not by his fellow castaways, mind you, but by the producers, who sent his character, rich kid Boone, plunging off a cliff in a plane wreckage. (Look for the demise to propel the drama's final episodes when it returns next week after tonight's extended recap, airing on CTV and ABC at 9 p.m.) Such a turn of events might leave some actors soured -- hit show one day, looking for work the next -- but Somerhalder says he's not bitter about his abrupt exit from the small screen sensation.... The Washington Examiner - You're not 'Lost' with ABC clip show
A whole lot of folks just aren't regular TV watchers. They watch when it's convenient; they watch when they have nothing else to do; they watch zero TV one week and then evenings at a time the next. To catch up on popular TV shows, it's easiest to get involved through prolonged viewing, by renting the first season of "The O.C." on DVD or sitting through a "Real World" marathon on MTV. But these methods are costly -- if not monetarily, in the hours upon hours spent planted in front of the idiot box. ABC has presented an alternative, one that many viewers probably won't take to but I kind of like: a clip show.... Read the full story here. (7:05 AM)

Variety - Maeda 'Lost' at Touchstone
Scribe Steven Maeda has sealed a two-year overall deal at Touchstone TV, where he'll join the staff of ABC's hit drama "Lost." Under terms of the seven-figure pact, Maeda will serve next year as a co-exec producer on "Lost," in time for the castaway thriller's second season. He'll then turn to creating, developing and producing drama projects for Touchstone in the second year of the pact. Maeda most recently served as a supervising producer on the CBS procedural drama "CSI: Miami." The writer has been on the staff of "CSI: Miami" since its launch, writing or co-writing 19 episodes. "Lost" exec producer Damon Lindelof said he went after the writer to fill one of two open positions on the show - but given the relative security of working on a "CSI" show, didn't think he'd have a shot at Maeda. "Those 'CSI' guys are untouchable," Lindelof said. "Those shows do such huge numbers, I don't look at them as getable. They're like married guys. But turns out he as a fan of ('Lost'). Every studio wanted him, and I'm sure it must have been a huge decision to leave the 'CSI' family." Lindelof said he was drawn to Maeda's wide resume. Besides "CSI: Miami," Maeda's credits also include writing on two Chris Carter series, "The X-Files" and "Harsh Realm." On the film side, Maeda - who's repped by UTA - helped write "Murder at 1600." "He's got a great genre pedigree, a procedural pedigree, and now he gets to stretch his character muscle on 'Lost,'" Lindelof said. "Everyone will get something out of it." Read the full story here. St. Louis Post-Dispatch - Will 'Lost' recap help viewers find some answers?
Lost? Join the club. ABC's "Lost," one of the biggest hits of the current TV season, is also one of the most addictive. But at this point, if you actually claim to know what's going on, you must be J.J. Abrams or Damon Lindelof, who created the thriller and swear they have its mythology firmly mapped out in their minds. Our minds, meanwhile, are full of questions. Is Boone really dead? Should we worry about Claire's baby? What's up with those mysterious, deadly lottery numbers? Will someone else really die in the season finale, and if so, who? ABC won't answer those questions in Wednesday night's special, "Lost: The Journey" (7 p.m. on Channel 30). Still, the hour-long recap is, for once, not just a cheap way to stretch out a hit show. This time, it's a public service.... Read the full story here. (12:25 PM)
E! Online - Watch With Kristin: Desperate Housewives' Mike Spills All; Lost's Boone Might Not Be Gone for Good
...The best [secret] I learned: Dominic Monaghan just might be the best damn deejay on the planet. No poop. He spinned at an unofficial wrap party Saturday night and was so unbelievably dance-worthy, I still have a side cramp. Who knew? He's also one of my new favorite people. Couldn't have been nicer.... The Sun News - Trends spotted in fall TV pilots
...Quick, copy that. Breakout hits this season have been offbeat, almost other-worldly. So, following in the heels of "Desperate Housewives," ABC is priming "Soccer Moms." Kristin Davis and Gina Torres are among the stars of this comedy-drama. "Lost" has caught the fancy of development gurus, too. Thus, ABC ordered a pilot for "Invasion," which chronicles the weird happenings in a small Florida town after a hurricane. ABC also is planning a reprise of "Night Stalker," the '70s series about a crime reporter who investigated supernatural phenomena.... Read the full story here. (12:16 PM)

TV Guide Online - Lost Finds Film Star
Someone on Lost island may want to double-check that flight manifest. Turns out there was a semi-famous movie star on board Oceanic Flight 815 when it crashed last fall. As first reported in a little column called Ask Ausiello, Michelle Rodriguez (Girlfight, Resident Evil) will be introduced in the thriller's flashback-heavy season finale next month as a fellow passenger who befriends Matthew Fox's Jack prior to takeoff. Hope that doesn't mean she got stuck sitting in coach. Read the full story here. (Meanwhile, Dark Horizons seems to think this means she'll be a regular next season. We'll see.) (6:02 PM)
Popgurls.com - PopGurls Interview: Javier Grillo-Marxuach
It's damn near impossible not to like Javier Grillo-Marxuach, even if he's a bit elusive with the Lost spoilers. As Supervising Producer/Writer, he's privy to the mysteries of the island, including Jack's ever-so-perfect stubble. But he's written for a number of series that make my eyes all glossy: my beloved Boomtown, The Pretender, and Jake 2.0. Javier talks about the lessons he's learned on all those shows (dance numbers in underwater trains = bad; women in hats speaking a foreign language = very, very good), the popularity of sci-fi on television and gives just a smidgen of hints of what's to come in the Lost finale.... Sun-Sentinel - Battle of the Network Egos
May 25, the final night of the 2004-2005 TV season, could go down in history. Three powerhouse attractions -- the crowning of the fourth American Idol, the double-length season finale of serial hit Lost and the torn-from-the-headlines TV movie Amber Frey: Witness for the Prosecution -- will collide in what might be the most contentious weeknight ever. There have been other titanic showdowns, the most celebrated being Feb. 11, 1979, when Gone With the Wind, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest and the TV movie Elvis faced off in what many TV analysts regard as the most reckless scorched-earth scheduling ever. Remember, this was pre-VCR, so most homes had to choose just one. However, almost all previous battles royal, including the one in 1979, have been on Sundays, when typically the most viewers are available. That the latest will take place on a Wednesday, generally not a heavily trafficked night, is a matter of circumstance more than design. Wednesday is results night on American Idol. With Fox pulverizing everything in its path every time Idol airs, and the two-hour crowning of a winner an event almost on par with the Oscars, there's no reason for Fox to depart from the norm. Lost also is a Wednesday fixture, although its regular time slot is 8 p.m., the hour prior to American Idol. The movie-length season-ender makes at least a partial conflict with Idol unavoidable. The alternative to a simultaneous start would be a 9 p.m. airtime. This would create only a one-hour overlap, but Idol would have a stranglehold on viewers by the time Lost started. It would be pollyannaish for ABC to hope viewers would abandon Idol just as it is getting to its climactic moment. It's actually more prudent to buck the heavily padded first hour of Idol and hope fans of both shows become hooked enough to stick with Lost.... Read the full story here. (2:58 PM)
The Sacramento Bee - Lifestyle by Rick Kushman
...As for "Lost," the next non-repeat episode shows up May 4, and as annoying as it is to wait for weeks, we have to give ABC a bit of a break on this. "Lost" was originally scheduled to run with almost no reruns through the first half of the season, then give the time slot to another series. But, like "Desperate Housewives," "Lost" was far more popular than ABC expected, and the network wanted both shows to last through the full nine-month season. Here's the problem: "Lost" already expanded its production, and will end up making 26 hours of TV this year, four hours more than most dramas. That still doesn't come close to filling up nine months, hence the repeats. To that end, "Lost" and "Desperate Housewives" will kill some time next week by running what amount to highlight reels. Those are hours that ABC hopes viewers will consider catch-up episodes, and they'll recap major developments on both shows. They even have snappy titles: "Desperate Housewives: Sorting Out the Dirty Laundry," which runs Sunday, and "Lost: The Journey," which airs next Wednesday. Read the full story here. (2:54 PM)
Los Angeles Times - How lost can you get?
When I say I sneaked onto the set of the popular ABC drama "Lost," trudging along a deserted beach and cutting through a bit of jungle to find the cast and crew, it sounds more intrepid than it actually was. In truth, I wasn't anywhere near lost; in fact, I knew exactly where I was: the North Shore of Oahu, the most commercial of the Hawaiian Islands, which only confirmed my suspicions as an avid "Lost" viewer that if the camera panned too far to the left of the deserted beach and the banyan trees, one would see a home, perhaps, or even a Starbucks. This isn't quite true, because the North Shore is a sleepy place, a world away from Waikiki. I didn't have to hike through jungle to find the set; basically, I parked and walked about a mile, stepping through some brush. It was no more or less arduous than a hike through the base of the Santa Monica Mountains. And then I was among the people of "Lost." They were eating and chatting. I had some hummus and read the sports pages of the Honolulu Advertiser. By then I had been tooling around the North Shore for several days earlier this month, trying to fall into the dream world of a show that has captivated millions, including me. "Lost" is about a jumbo jetliner that crashes en route from Australia to Los Angeles, stranding a group of survivors, a Rorschach of pop-culture types, on a creepy tropical island that is not only remote but also inhabited by polar bears, wild boar and a crazy Frenchwoman marooned there 16 years earlier who thinks she's Kurtz in Apocalypse Now.... Comic Book Resources - Man in the Middle: Javier Grillo-Marxuach Talks "The Middleman"
Viper Comics have made a name for themselves with the success of Josh Howard's "Dead@17" mini-series and trade paperback collections and the company hopes to repeat that success with its next big launch this summer called "The Middleman." Though the writer, Javier Grillo-Marxuach (referred to as JGM later in this interview) may be an unknown name to most, he is a writer on ABC's hit television show "Lost" and has worked on many of the most acclaimed episodes of the series. CBR News spoke with JGM about "The Middleman" and he explained the origins of the series. "It's an absolute and complete labor of love," Grillo-Marxuach told CBR News. "I have done my time in the trenches of television and wanted desperately to do something with a very distinctive voice and a complete disregard for a lot of the sillier conventions of the genre... as well as a complete respect for things that often go neglected, like characters you can get to know and love and the intelligence of the audience.... Popgurls.com - The Quickest Q&A Ever: Lost
Hot on the heels of a jaw-dropping character death and mere weeks away from its three-hour, two-part finale, Lost fans, cast and crew gathered in Los Angeles on April 16 for Destination: L.A. The event was a fundraiser for the Children's Defense Fund of L.A., a charity near and dear to co-creator J.J. Abrams' heart. Auctioning off such items as cast-signed scripts and lunch with Supervising Producer/Writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach, Destination: L.A. raised $5,000 for the charity. PopGurls chatted up several cast members and J.J. Abrams, asking them our traditionally random questions -- some of which turned out to be far more difficult to answer than we had anticipated.... Sci Fi Wire - Somerhalder Eyes Pulse
Ian Somerhalder, whose Lost character Boone perished last week, is in talks to appear in Pulse, Jim Sonzero's upcoming horror movie, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He would join Kristen Bell (TV's Veronica Mars) in the movie, which is based on the Japanese horror movie Kairo. Written by Ray Wright, Pulse centers on a group of college students who discover that a computer hacker friend of theirs unwittingly pirated a strange wireless signal that opened a doorway for a terrifying evil to cross over into the world. As it spreads, everyone in its path is consumed, and the students must race to find a way to stop it, the trade paper reported. Read the full story here. (12:05 PM)
The New York Times - Stranded, for Even Longer
In the escalating battle of "can you top this?" finales, ABC decided only last month that the season ender of "Lost" would be three hours long. Titled "Exodus," it will be shown in two parts: an hour on May 18 and a two-hour episode one week later. That May 25 episode will clash with another oversize finale, that of Fox's "American Idol." Nigel Lythgoe, an executive producer of "Idol," said he understood why ABC wanted that match-up: "We're lucky enough to be in a position to be America's No. 1 show. They're not. So we've got everything to lose, and they haven't, to be frank." Dating to the first season of "Survivor" in 2000, reality franchises have often concluded in a prolonged fashion. "The Amazing Race," "The Bachelor" and "American Idol" close with two-hour episodes; the nine "Survivor" and the first two "Apprentice" finales have been three hours. More hours means more hype, not to mention more commercials to sell. Series finales have played the supersize-me game, too: the hourlong "Friends" retrospective before the show's final episode last May was the third most watched prime-time show of 2004, and CBS plans to give "Everybody Loves Raymond" the same treatment this season. But while expanded episodes of scripted shows are nothing new - think "Love Boat," then think "wedding cruise to Alaska" - impromptu ones are. In an interview with the Sci Fi Channel's Web site, the supervising producer of "Lost," Javier Grillo-Marxuach, said ABC had asked the show's producers to make the May 25 episode 90 minutes long. When the writers handed in a draft that was even longer, he said, ABC decided to go ahead with a two-hour episode.... Read the full story here. (11:58 AM)
The Journal News - Mystery shrouds TV series
By correctly guessing who killed her alter ego's best friend, "Veronica Mars" star Kristen Bell won a little money in an office pool and the knowledge that she successfully navigated the fledgling UPN show's many twists and turns. "I just read the final episode this morning and I am correct," Bell said recently. "I am thrilled. It was so good, I can't even tell you." As "Veronica" (Tuesdays, 9 p.m., UPN) and fellow suspense-filled freshman dramas "Lost" (Wednesdays 8 p.m., ABC) and "Desperate Housewives" (Sundays, 9 p.m., ABC) air their final crop of episodes, it's not too late for some new viewers to catch on. All it takes is a little homework and an appreciation for the self-contained storylines also featured on each program.... Read the full story here. (11:55 AM)
New York Post - 'Lost' Dog
Forget human actors - the most popular cast member on "Lost" is Madison, the frisky yellow Labrador retriever who plays Vincent. It's a cross-gender role for the 5-year-old bitch, who busts her tail every day on set playing a guy - just like every male dog who's played the female Lassie over the years. "Madison is about as socialized as a dog can get," her trainer, Kim Stahl, told The Post.... Read the full story here. (11:52 AM)
Sign On San Diego - Speculating on what's inside the bunker on ABC's Lost
Since it's become a favorite guessing game around the office, it looks like it's time to come up with a solid Disembodied Brain-style theory about the Lost hatch/bunker. (And I'm not entirely sure there isn't a disembodied brain inside that thing....) There are two major sets of factors to consider here: Technical facts/dramatic clues and dramatic implications for the show. Let me tackle the second category first, since it greatly narrows down the options.... Read the full story here. (11:46 AM)

New York Post - More 'Lost' Deaths to Come
You haven't seen the last "Lost" character to die. The actor who plays Boone says he was just the first. "There are gonna be a lot more," Ian Somerhalder - who played the preppie, trust-fund kid until his character was killed off on last week's episode - tells TV Guide. "I'm gonna sound like an ass for saying this," Somerhalder says. "But I'd rather be the first one off. "It was all the more of a shock to me and the cast and to the story. You never forget the first, right?" Boone's death was just the latest twist on what has become one of the most talked-about shows on TV. The series follows a group of plane-crash survivors on a mysterious island.... Read the full story here. (11:22 AM)
About - The "Lost Boys" Do Scary Movies, Too!
Lost star Ian Somerhalder has been voted off the island, so to speak, but you can still see the underwear model-turned-actor in the Wes Craven produced animals gone bad horror flick, The Breed. It's about killer dogs on a… desert island! Apparently you can take the boy off the island, but... Josh Holloway, best known as the surly Saywer on the series, has snagged himself a movie role too: The model-turned-actor (am I sensing a pattern here?) will star in a supernatural thriller tentatively titled Whisper. It's about the kidnapping of a little boy who turns out to be anything but an innocent victim.... Read the full story here. (11:13 AM)
E! Online - Death Becomes "Lost"
Boone's death was a boon for Lost. More than 17 million watched the practitioner of step-brotherly love pass away last week in the ABC castaway drama, according to Nielsen Media Research. The performance meant another top 10 finish for the freshman hit. While other islanders have had their torches extinguished on the show, Boone, played by Ian Somerhalder, is the first major Lost character to be offed.... Read the full story here. (11:08 AM)
Coming Soon! - Lost Star Somerhalder Aboard The Breed
Moviehole reported yesterday that Ian Somerhalder, who played Boone on ABC's hit show Lost, will next star in Nick Mastandrea's horror film The Breed, coming to theaters in 2006.... ...Somerhalder also recently signed a holding deal with Touchstone/ABC for a series of his own. New Mexicans for Science and Research - "LOST" Lottery Leads Losers to Lumps!
...I wondered if New Mexicans were also eager to take a chance on the "cursed" numbers, and inquired with the New Mexico lottery as to how many Powerball tickets were purchased with these numbers after the March 2nd "Lost" showing. Lance Ross of the NM Lottery Authority was kind enough to honor my unusual request, even though normally only winning numbers are announced, not losing entries. Lance wrote "There were 158 Powerball tickets in New Mexico that night [Saturday March 6th] that matched the numbers on the previous episode of 'Lost.' Virtually all were player-picked, although there is the possibility that some may have been randomly-generated 'quick picks.' Additionally, there is no way to know if one person may have played the same number more than once. These represented tickets purchased Thursday through Saturday, March 3-5. ..." As in Michigan, the "cursed" numbers did poorly in practice. Of the nine Powerball drawings in all of March, only three of the special numbers were actually drawn: 8 (March 2nd), 23 (March 9th, 12th and 23rd) and 42 (March 30th). The numbers 4, 15 and 16 weren't drawn at all.... Read the full story here. (1:51 AM)

Sci Fi Wire - Lost Finale Is Super-Sized
Javier Grillo-Marxuach, a writer and supervising producer on ABC's hit series Lost, told SCI FI Wire that the much-anticipated season finale will clock in at three hours and give fans everything they love about the show. "In terms of epic storytelling and shocking destiny, you ain't seen nothing yet!" Grillo-Marxuach said in an interview. "We were going to do a two-hour finale [over two weeks], and then ABC asked if we could do 90 minutes [the second week] so they could schedule it against American Idol. Carlton [Cuse] and Damon [Lindelof, who co-created the show with J.J. Abrams,] did an amazing job on the finale script, and their first draft came in a little long anyway. [ABC] looked at it and decided to do a two-hour. So 'Exodus Part 1' will air on May 18th, and the epic saga that is 'Exodus Part 2' will air May 25th. The final two hours is so full of incident and character and shocks and scares and drama, all the things that people love about Lost, that it would have been silly to cut things out. So we've got a 25-hour first season! We busted our butts on it, but it's not going to feel like it's been padded. We are very proud of it." The Journal News - From Dada to Dali
In ABC's hit series "Lost," about plane-crash survivors on a mysterious tropical island, one survivor dreams that he is trapped in a wheelchair deep in the jungle while another, bloodied, repeats a seemingly nonsensical rhyme. In the distance, the dreamer's mother, who was not even on the flight, appears wearing a fur coat as a small aircraft soars overhead. The nightmare turns out to be as much a self-fulfilling prophecy as a key to the dreamer's past. But what is really intriguing is how much this sequence — and others like it on the big and small screens — owes to Surrealism, the literary and artistic movement that sought to tap the unconscious of a troubled world in the period between the two world wars.... The Salt Lake Tribune - Boone on 'Lost' mum about whether he's gone for good
Ian Somerhalder is keeping tight-lipped about the true fate of his character Boone on ABC's hit series, "Lost." Despite the heroic efforts of Jack (Matthew Fox), Boone died in Wednesday's episode from injuries he suffered when a wrecked plane he was crawling around in slipped from a tall tree and fell to the ground. "I am hoping that I will [return]," Somerhalder said in a phone interview Friday from Oahu, Hawaii, where the series is filmed. "I am not sure that I am, but... it's 'Lost,' so you truly never know." Boone was the first major character to be killed off the show, which revolves around a group of plane-crash survivors stranded on a mysterious South Pacific island. Somerhalder, 31, said all the series' regulars were told there was a chance their character could die during the course of the season.... Read the full story here. (3:16 PM)

Zap2It - 'Lost' Writer Tells All... or Not
"What else can I tell you that I can't tell you?" says Javier Grillo-Marxuach, a writer/supervising producer on ABC's "Lost." "That should be the motto for all interviews about 'Lost.'" For weeks, fans speculated on which of the hit castaway drama's large cast of characters - survivors of the doomed Oceanic Airlines Flight 815, which crashed on a deserted island -- would die, as hinted at by series creators J.J. Abrams ("Alias") and Damon Lindelof. In the Wednesday, April 6 episode, the unlucky soul turned out to be rich-boy Boone (Ian Somerhalder), who succumbed to injuries sustained when the crashed light airplane he was exploring slipped off a cliff edge. Boone and fellow castaway Locke (Terry O'Quinn), a former paraplegic turned island mystic, found the plane, loaded with heroin-stuffed Virgin Mary statues, while following Locke's visions through the jungle.... Thesp Ian Somerhalder - who last night "Lost" his gig playing the hot-headed castaway Boone - has sealed a one-year talent holding deal at ABC and Touchstone TV. Deal likely helps take some of the sting out of seeing his character die on the hugely popular "Lost." Series producers had promised that they would kill off one of the show's major characters before the end of the season, and Somerhalder's Boone was a goner after falling off the side of a cliff (inside a mysterious airplane) in last week's episode. Beyond the ABC/Touchstone deal - for a series next year - Somerhalder has also signed on to star in indie feature "The Breed." Somerhalder will play Matt, who winds up stranded with his brother on a mysterious island teeming with wild, ferociously intelligent dogs. Nick Mastandrea will direct from a script by Peter Wortmann and Bob Conte.... Read the full story here (subscription required). (11:57 AM)
USA Today - Death for Boone, birth for Claire on 'Lost'
This island really is dangerous. As if to underline the deadly serious stakes, first-year hit Lost killed off one of its 14 regular characters Wednesday as Boone (Ian Somerhalder) died of injuries suffered in last week's episode. The show completed a circle of life as another character, Claire (Emilie de Ravin), gave birth. Boone, a callow young man who had been toughened by island challenges, is the first fatality among the ABC drama's main cast. Although the character hasn't been as central as some, such as Jack, Kate, Sawyer or Locke, he was featured in a flashback episode — a Lost signature — and has been as prominent as any other of the airline crash survivors. So why Boone? "It will be very apparent as to why he died, just in terms of figuring out which character's death would impact the most relationships on the island," executive producer Damon Lindelof says.... ...And "that's not to say Boone is the only character who dies this season," Lindelof says.... New York Post - Dead 'Lost'
The actor who plays Boone, killed off on last night's "Lost," isn't happy about becoming the first casualty on one of TV's hottest new shows. "Pretty devastating," Ian Somerhalder tells Entertainment Weekly. "The week [before] I got the call [telling him the bad news], I started looking for a house in Hawaii. "Now I'm looking for a house in Venice Beach." Boone died last night from the injuries he suffered after the small plane he was investigating fell out of a tree. Somerhalder, who played the preppy trust-fund baby, tells EW he understands why "Lost" creators J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof killed off his character.... Read the full story here. (11:48 AM)

USA Today - De Ravin: 'Lost' in transformation
It's the most highly anticipated on-screen birth since Rosemary delivered her satanic surprise back in the 1960s in Rosemary's Baby. Now, after appearing ready to pop in the pilot episode in September, Lost's Claire will at long last give birth Wednesday (8 ET/PT, ABC). But to whom - or to what? That's the question on the island on which she is marooned with 47 other plane-crash survivors. Australian Emilie de Ravin, who has played Claire Littleton with the aid of expanding pregnancy pads, has heard every fan theory about what might be growing inside her character's womb. "I've heard the baby's the devil," says de Ravin, 23. "That it's more than one baby; that it's not a baby. What do they think it is - a dog?" To be sure, this is no normal pregnancy.... Mobile Register - Actors get 'Lost' after Bama
Where do actors go after making a movie in south Alabama? Well, a couple of them have gotten "Lost." ABC's red-hot Wednesday night dramatic puzzler "Lost" has a large and capable ensemble that includes two players who in recent years came to the area to star in independent films shot here. Terry O'Quinn, who plays Locke on the show, portrayed a dynamic high school football coach in "Hometown Legend," a film that was known as "American Leather" when it was shooting in Baldwin and Mobile counties in 2000 and 2001. Josh Holloway, who plays bad-boy Sawyer on "Lost," came to south Alabama in 1999 to play a role in a cowboy romance called "Mi Amigo." "Hometown Legend" is about a young football talent who comes to a small Alabama town with selfish motives but winds up a team player. Filmed in Monroe and Baldwin counties, "Mi Amigo" is set in the fictional town of Cherub, Texas. It's about the strained relationships of a pair of 20th century cowboys and the woman they love.... TV Guide Online - The Lost Language of Jin
Ever since the Lost castaways crash-landed on ABC's airwaves, the drama's fans have struggled to sort the heroes from the villains. Actor Daniel Dae Kim, who plays Jin, knows his Korean-speaking character has fallen into the latter bunch because of his domineering attitude toward Sun, his on-screen wife. However, he hopes viewers will warm to Jin as more of his backstory is revealed. Here, TVGuide.com rings up the 36-year-old thesp — previously best known for his memorable guest spots on 24, Angel and ER — to see how he's adjusting to life as a series regular.... Sci Fi Wire - Fury Quits Lost
David Fury, a key writer and co-executive producer of ABC's hit series Lost, told SCI FI Wire that he is quitting the show immediately to work on two other series, The Inside and 24, and maybe develop a show on his own. ABC, meanwhile, ordered up a second season of the hit show. "I'm very proud of Lost and my contribution to the show, but for numerous personal reasons, I feel like it's time for me to move on to other things," said Fury, best known for being a writer on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. "I spent seven years of my career in one place [working on Buffy and its spinoff series, Angel], and it's a lot of fun to work in different worlds. Lost was a lot of fun, and I have a great deal of gratitude for [series co-creators] J.J. [Abrams] and Damon [Lindelof]. I know the show will continue to be great, and I look forward to viewing it." Fury wrote four scripts for Lost, including the fourth episode, "Walkabout," which centered on Terry O'Quinn's character, Locke, and contained a whopper plot twist.... Read the full story here. The Arizona Republic - 'Lost' fans find their way to the show's production sites
In the early days of Lost, ABC's tantalizing plane-crash-survival saga, a few of its stir-crazy castaways are seen gazing up at an all-encompassing drapery of majestic green mountains when one of them flashes a look of utter terror and asks, "Guys, where are we?" Anyone familiar with Hawaii immediately could have told them that they were on the island of Oahu, and more specifically, somewhere in the Kaaawa Valley region, not all that far from civilization, hot showers and refreshing shave ice. But then again, why spoil the fun? They're supposed to be lost, after all.... Read the full story here. (10:28 AM)
The New York Times - Undergoing a Sea Change on Prospero's Isle
"I was broke a year ago," the actor Terry O'Quinn said recently. "And I fully expect to be broke again." Something in Mr. O'Quinn's prophetic tone did not invite contradiction, though for now he's flush. Since September, Mr. O'Quinn, 52, has appeared on "Lost," ABC's hit drama, as one of that uncanny show's most uncanny characters, a Prospero figure named John Locke, like the Enlightenment philosopher. In the first episode, Locke survived a plane crash that left him and dozens of others marooned on a tropical island, where - as if ordinary man-versus-man perils weren't enough - an obscure, seemingly supernatural menace also resides. But the island also abounds with opportunities for redemption and courage, and Locke, a freshly healed paraplegic, now professes that everyone receives a new life on the island.... Sun-Sentinel - Holloway relishes being Lost's scoundrel
With the meteoric success of ABC's castaway drama Lost -- which returns with new episodes tonight -- the career of journeyman actor Josh Holloway has gone from near-zero to off the charts in a few short months. The 35-year-old former model, who plays bad-boy con artist Sawyer, is still coping with all this newfound attention. "It's been fun," he says in his deep Georgia drawl, "but it's still shocking at times. I still enjoy it a bit. I haven't been in it long enough to get jaded. Nothing in my life has ever just happened. I've had to seek out my directions in life, and they normally are long and arduous before it gets fun and exciting. "This was the same, and I expected it to be so. I think it's human nature, we need the pain to enjoy the glory." Holloway's experience on Lost is hardly the first time that an actor in his mid-30s has suddenly catapulted to stardom.... Read the full story here. (10:22 AM)
USA Today - Actor has a lock on 'Lost'
Life on a Pacific island transforms Locke, the fascinating adventurer on ABC's Lost. It has done much the same for actor Terry O'Quinn. For Locke, one of 48 survivors of a plane crash, the mysterious island has given him the chance to walk. Many consider the revelation Locke had been in a wheelchair the most riveting moment yet for the hit, which returns Wedneday (8 ET/PT) with its first new episode since March 2, featuring a Locke flashback. O'Quinn's experience hasn't been quite so dramatic. But Lost and the accompanying move to Hawaii have been part of a great change for the 52-year-old actor and his wife, Lori.... Time Magazine - 6 Best Dramas on TV Now
Spring is the time for weeding: for gardeners, a time to yank and replant; for TV watchers, a time to clear the dead underbrush from the viewing calendar and start anew. Maybe a favorite show's been canceled; maybe the midseason replacements weren't what you hoped for; maybe you've fallen out of love with a fall fling. Whatever the reason, here are six current dramas worth transplanting into your weekly rotation before rerun season starts.... ...LOST (ABC, WEDNESDAYS, 8 P.M. E.T.) Each week a band of unfortunates narrowly escapes deadly pitfalls in pursuit of a shadowy mystery. Not the characters--the writers. They've recklessly piled on several seasons' worth of plot twists in one year. Yet the show has stayed just this side of ridiculous, through grounded performances and a flashback device that keeps it all from getting too claustrophobic--and helps newcomers get to know the cast.... PopMatters - TV is a Horrible Bitch Goddess
I officially became part of the problem this week, when I illegally downloaded a pirated TV show episode off the Internet. I don't want to name the show, in case it comes back to bite me somehow, but I'll give you a hint. It starts with an "L", it rhymes with "cost" and it's about a bunch of plane crash survivors on a mysterious deserted island. Except that it's not deserted because there's apparently some big-ass monster in the jungle, and there's definitely a crazy French chick out there, and holy-moly Kate is a total babe, but Sawyer's rakish bad-bay shtick is sure wearing thin, and ooh that Jin makes me so mad and I'm glad he left Sun because he doesn't deserve her... I normally don't get this stupid over a TV show, but when I do get stupid, I get really stupid. Stupid enough to lurk at the online forums and spend about four hours figuring out how to download an episode I missed.... Read the full story here. (3:29 AM)

Bad news for "Lost" fans who also watch "American Idol": The season finales of both shows are now scheduled for the same night. ABC confirmed Wednesday (March 30) that it's planning to air the two-hour "Lost" finale, which will answer at least some of the questions about the plane-crash survivors and the mysterious island on which they're stranded, on Wednesday, May 25.
